While the open center lugs penetrate deep into wet or soft ground and ensure reliable grip and effective braking power, the large side lugs can withstand even the greatest stresses in extreme lean angles. Thanks to the 3C MaxxGrip compound, the
DoubleDown (DD) is a casing solution for enduro racing and e-bike use. Two layers of the lightweight 120 TPI casing material are combined with a butyl sidewall insert to create a highly durable tire with more trail feedback than a Downhill casing tire. DoubleDown tires are marginally lighter than their Downhill counterparts, but it’s really the difference in “trail feel” that sets the two apart. Some riders may prefer the highly damped ride provided by a Downhill casing tire.
3C MaxxGrip compound
Maxxis’ 3C MaxxGrip compound uses the stickiest, slowest rebounding rubber they offer in a mountain bike tire. This high traction compound is the same one used by top World Cup Downhill and Enduro World Series athletes and is now available in a variety of casing configurations to cover all riders.
Tubeless tyres on bicycles have many advantages. You can ride with less air pressure and therefore have better traction, the rolling resistance is lower than with an inner tube, and with a sealant instead of an inner tube, the risk of punctures is greatly reduced as small holes are simply sealed. MTB tyres are almost exclusively used in competitions, and the number of road bike users is also steadily increasing.
