MetroPass AT – For On Road & Off Road Adventures
With the AT version of the MetroPass, Maxxis is expanding its "Metro" model series, which is geared towards city and cargo bicycles, with a lightweight, easy-rolling all-round tire for modern E-SUV bicycles. "AT" stands for "All Terrain", and the name says it all: full control and comfort on asphalt, gravel and dirt roads, as well as off-road. The MetroPass AT combines the best features and latest technologies from urban and mountain bike tire construction to redefine performance on and off the road.
In addition to the all-weather rubber compound, the durable MaxxProtect puncture protection promises maximum reliability on any surface. In addition an with an eye to the future, Maxxis has equipped this high-quality tire with the proven Tubeless Ready technology, making the MetroPass AT a pioneer among SUV wire bead tires. The result: greater puncture protection and lower rolling resistance. No less advanced is the carcass, which is made from 100 % recycled Seawastex nylon.
Features of the Maxxis MetroPass AT wire bead tire
- metal wire bead core – safe and rigid
- 4 Season rubber compound
- MaxxProtect EXO puncture protection
- Tubeless Ready (TR)
- suitable for E-Bike (E50 / ECE-R75)
4 Season Compound | Tires for city bikes must function safely in all seasons, in rain and snow. To meet this requirement, Maxxis has developed the 4 Season rubber compound, which incorporates all of its expertise in the manufacture of all-season tires for the automotive sector.
MaxxProtect | The protection of choice for Metro series tires. The 3 mm thick layer of special rubber is located under the tread and increases resistance to punctures when used in urban areas. Combined with the EXO sidewall protection known from the MTB sector, the tire is optimally protected from bead to bead.
EXO Protection | This extremely cut- and abrasion-resistant material protects the sidewall of various MTB and Gravel models. It is very densely woven, but nevertheless extremely light and flexible to ensure that the tires continue to perform well and convincingly.
Tubeless Ready (TR) | Tubeless tires have many advantages. Riding with less air pressure improves traction and rolling resistance is also lower than with inner tubes. In addition, the risk of punctures is significantly reduced by using a sealant instead of an inner tube, as small holes are immediately sealed again.
E50 | Electric bikes that support speeds above 25 km/h require tires with special legal certification to operate. At Maxxis, tires that meet the relevant requirements are marked with the abbreviation E50.
Seawastex | Thousands of tons of old or defective fishing nets are floating in the world's oceans. Seawastex has found a way to completely recycle and process them into nylon granules, which can then be used to produce high-quality nylon threads with exactly the same properties as new material. Fishermen are discouraged from "wild" disposal by the free replacement of their old nets, so that the oceans and coasts will suffer less from pollution in the future. Only nylon fibers made from recycled Seawastex base material are used in the carcasses of the Metro models from Maxxis.
Note: Tubeless Ready tires require tubeless compatible rims/wheels, tubeless valves, tubeless rim tape and sealing fluid for tubeless mounting. Sealant fluid is not required for tubeless UST tires, but is recommended for increased puncture protection. Installation should only be carried out by qualified personnel.
