353 NSW – Speed of Light

The combination of innovative rim design and AXS connectivity—featuring an integrated sensor for precise tire pressure monitoring—makes the 353 NSW wheelset one of the most advanced models in the ZIPP lineup across all performance categories. With their low weight, these disc brake wheels are ideal for climbers as well as modern endurance and road racers.

The wave-shaped HyperFoil profile, with its differentiated SawTooth rim depth of 35/40 mm and the HexFin ABLC dimple structure, is responsible for the 353 NSW’s excellent aerodynamic properties and outstanding crosswind stability. However, the wheelset also stands out for its exceptional durability and is even stronger in its current version. Thanks to a revised carbon layup, durability has been increased by another 16% compared to previous models.

The wheels are rounded out by the ZR1 SL Premium hubs, which are 30 grams lighter than the previous version and feature ceramic hybrid bearings that reduce rolling resistance on any surface, whether on the road, in the mountains, or on descents. Due to their specific focus on road bikes, ZIPP does not recommend the 353 NSW wheels for gravel use.

AXS Wheel Sensor | The system integrated into the rim allows tire pressure to be monitored and analyzed in real time without the need to attach an external device to the valve stem. Fine-tuning the air pressure helps the rider optimize their speed and performance in a constantly changing environment. Check the pressure before riding: a green light means you’re good to go. Thanks to the ability to measure pressure while riding, issues can also be detected early on.

Total System Efficiency (TSE) | Based on the simple premise “efficiency = speed,” the SRAM Group presents TSE as a solution for maximum performance in the real world—a world of imperfect roads and ever-changing riding conditions. In the context of cycling, efficiency means less effort required to overcome air resistance, gravity, rolling resistance, and vibration losses. The result: more speed with less effort. The factors that enable this more efficient riding performance include wider (tubeless) tires, lower tire pressure, an optimized rim profile, and a new type of rim laminate.

Tubeless Straight Side (TSS) |Hookless Tubeless Tubeless Straight Side describes the construction of the rims. Tubeless-compatible rims can be ridden without an inner tube, but a setup with an inner tube is also possible. Hookless or Straight Side describes the shape of the rim flange, which in this case is straight and designed without the classic hook. This construction offers advantages in terms of greater impact resistance for carbon rim flanges.

Notes and Recommendations:

• Tire pressure: ZIPP specifies a maximum air pressure of 5 bar (73 psi). Depending on tire width, 4.5 bar / 65 psi (30 to 34 mm) or 4.0 bar / 58 psi (35 mm) is recommended.
• Tubeless: The use of an inner tube is possible, but only in combination with ZIPP-approved tubeless tires. We recommend the Vector R Z30 NSW tires, developed in cooperation with Goodyear, which are specifically tailored to the 353 NSW rims. The inner tube must also have a compatible threaded valve. To ensure the functionality of the AXS tire pressure sensor, the included Smart Tube inner tube is required.
• Warranty: ZIPP offers a lifetime warranty on the 353 NSW wheelsets, covering all structural damage. The AXS wheel sensor is covered by SRAM’s standard 2-year warranty.
