Mips Air safety system on the Oakley ARO5 Race bike helmet
Mips Air is a low-friction layer integrated directly into the helmet rather than added as a separate liner. In a crash, the helmet rarely hits the ground straight on. Angled impacts can cause the shell to slide or twist, and the Mips Air layer allows a small amount of movement relative to the shell to help absorb some of that rotational motion. The system is designed to reduce rotational motion of the head during angled impacts.

The BOA 360° Fit System uses a dial at the back to adjust the fit evenly around your head rather than tightening only at the rear. Fine adjustments are quick and easy, even with gloves on or while riding.

Air enters at the front, flows through internal channels over your head, and exits at the rear. The antimicrobial Ionic+ liner is activated by sweat and helps control odors. The front vents double as an eyewear dock, with Unobtainium grips securing the temples and recesses in the foam keeping them away from your head.
