ax-lightness SELECTION 80C - Durable full-carbon clincher wheelset for extreme sprints.
ax-lightness has leveraged its many years of experience in carbon construction (wheel building) to develop the new carbon rims of the SELECTION series. The SELECTION wheel series offers outstanding performance at a fair price-performance ratio.

The ultimate in aerodynamics in the SELECTION series: The 80C features an 80 mm high-profile rim, which offers enormous advantages on flat courses, in triathlons, or time trials. The slightly narrower rim profile (28 mm outer, 21 mm inner) is optimized for classic road bike tires starting at 25 mm. With a weight of 1690 grams, the set is heavier than the CX variants but gains noticeably in aerodynamic efficiency. Sapim CX-Ray spokes and external spoke nipples ensure easy maintenance. Recommended for races on flat courses, triathlons, and time trials.

The wheelset is delivered tubeless ready, allowing for easy installation of tubeless-compatible tires. Of course, the wheelset can also be used with inner tubes. The glossy UD matte finish, combined with the dark laser-etched ax-lightness logo, rounds out the wheelset’s premium appearance.

The in-house ax-lightness disc hubs with Center Lock mounts used in the SELECTION series are top-tier. The rear hub features a sealed freewheel with a ratchet system. The overall focus was on maximum stability while reducing weight. High-quality Enduro hub bearings ensure low friction losses. The double-crossed spoke pattern, with 24 Sapim CX-Ray blade spokes per wheel, distributes the load evenly across the rim and results in extremely stiff and durable wheels. All wheelsets in the SELECTION series feature external spoke nipples. This simplifies maintenance without the need for time-consuming removal of tires.

The weight, including tubeless rim tape, is just 1690 grams (±5%), making the SELECTION 80C the ideal sprinter for triathlons and time trials.
