Symbolic picture: The color of the delivered rope may differ. And as the color of the leftover yarns cannot be planned in advance, each Parrot 9.8 mm production batch has a unique color mix. This means that each rope is unique.
Robust, all-round rope with a small ecological footprint. Produced of high-quality yarns left over from Edelrid's production. Its handling and strength are identical to Edelrid's other ropes.
Eco-friendly, colorful and unique - the new Parrot 9.8 mm
For 2016, EDELRID is launching the Parrot 9.8, a rope made with reused sheath yarns left over from production. In an upcycling process, up to 95% of high-quality leftover yarns are reused. Rather than discarding them, the sheath yarns left over from standard production are used to make new ropes. This significantly reduces the amount of waste.

Thermo Shield treatment for perfect handling
Thermo Shield is the standard finishing treatment that Edelrid applies to all ropes to give them the famous EDELRID feel and handling characteristics. This thermal stabilizing process ensures that the core and sheath yarns are perfectly balanced. A special heat treatment first relaxes then shrinks the rope’s fibres. This harmonizes the individual yarns inside the rope and ensures that it remains compact and supple throughout its life. The result is a rope that does not shrink or quickly become stiff. Ropes that do not undergo a thermal stabilizing process often shrink and dry out more quickly. They tend to be stiffer than ropes that have been heat-treated.
bluesign® is the world's strictest standard for environmental protection, consumer protection and occupational safety. All environmentally relevant aspects of production are critically tested and permanently optimised: material use, energy, water, wastewater, exhaust air, noise, waste, and the treatment of hazardous materials. A "bluesign® product" may carry this symbol only when at least 90% of the textile area and 30% of the ingredients used are bluesign®-certified.
