The spring rate of the fork's Regular version is ideal for riders with a body weight over 80 kg.

Lauf forks are designed to maintain the lightness and reliability of rigid forks, while offering absorption and traction in small bumps that conventional suspension forks can't match. The stiction and slow response of conventional suspension forks make them unable to keep up with the Lauf Carbonara.

The 26" fat / 29"+ Lauf Carbonara is designed for fatbikes with a 15 x 150 mm thru axle and tapered head tube. The fork length measures 495 mm, which makes it fit perfectly to fatbike frames. The rake is 51 mm for the perfect balance of agile handling and great stability.

The springs of a Lauf fork don't really care about temperatures or any other environmental conditions: mud, salt, sand etc. This keeps the Carbonara performing flawlessly whether you find yourself in freezing Antarctica or scorching Sahara. It's reassuring to know when going on an epic adventure that the Carbonara is completely maintenance free. So you can stop thinking so much about your suspension and just ride as hard as you can.

If you are riding a long stroke fork in rough AM riding, then you want dampening in your suspension. You need it to stay in control and to effectively kill all the energy charged into the long stroke fork during the big hits of AM riding. But with the limited suspension travel of a Lauf fork you are not charging that much energy into the suspension so that it needs to be absorbed by dampening in the rebound. Therefore there is no need for lockout and you can filter out all those small bumps you frequently encounter, without wasting energy.

The Lauf Spring System (LSS) is a patent pending technology, including Integrated Pocket Layup for maximal bonding strength and connection rigidity between the fork leaves and structure. The LSS allows to keep the unsprung parts as light as a leaf, at only 260 grams.

The design of the Lauf Carbonara is based on a Zero Maintenance philosophy around eliminating all moving parts, and therefore, friction or any need for service. Lauf's own tests show that the monocoque carbon fiber structure delivers incredible strength without showing any signs of wear and tear.

The leaves of the Lauf Spring System (LSS) are made of military-spec high-performance S2 glass fibers, which are shockingly flexible and very impact resistant. The same material has been used for armour tanks - the springs of a Lauf fork are practically unbreakable.

To keep the suspension from feeling bouncy Lauf set the spring rate of its forks fairly high. Therefore only 60 mm of travel are needed. So in most cases you won't even notice that it's moving at all. You'll just notice how the surface suddenly feels a whole lot smoother.

The Carbonara features a progressive spring rate what means that the further the fork compresses the springs become stiffer. This helps keeping the fork from bottoming out while staying sensitive to small high-frequency bumps. That the 60 mm travel of the Lauf fork are not troubled with static friction supports this, too. The absence of friction also results in a high energy efficiency - a Lauf fork will not waste your hard earned joules.

Die Gabel ist genau das, was ich am Fatbike (Specialized Fatboy Alu) haben wollte. Sie spricht sehr feinfühlig an und ist gegenüber einer Carbon-Starrgabel eine klare Verbesserung.
Natürlich ist sie nicht mit einem Öl-/Luftsystem vergleichbar, hat weniger Federweg, ist dafür aber auch komplett wartungsfrei.
Am Fatbike macht sie eine gute Figur, sowohl was die Performance, als auch die Optik, angeht.
Ich nutze für etwas mehr Komfort desweiteren den SPANK Oozy Vibrocore Lenker, der zusätzliche Dämpfung bietet, das Bike aber trotzdem präzise führt.
Alles in allem ist die Gabel ihr Geld wert und sehr zu empfehlen!
Beste Gabel fürs Fatbike!
Die Gabel hat eine enorm hohe Fertigungsqualität. Bei den ersten Testkilometern fällt sofort das sehr feinfühlige Ansprechverhalten auf, da es kein Losbrechmoment wie bei herkömmlichen Federgabeln gibt. In Verbindung mit einem 4.00 Zoll Jumbo Jim und einem gefahrenen Luftdruck von 0,4 Bar ergibt sich ein sehr guter Federungskomfort. Trotz fehlender Dämpfung arbeitet das Blattfeder System sehr ruhig und die Gabel wippt nicht nach oder schaukelt sich auf. Interessant ist die Tatsache, dass sich die Federung des Reifens und der Blattfedern sich sehr gut ergänzen. Die Gabel ist beim starken Bremsen enorm Steif und verwindet sich nicht.
Das Beste ist die Wartungsfreiheit und die Gabel ist nur 50 Gramm schwerer als die Starrgabel mit 1050 Gramm.
