Description of CUBE STEREO HYBRID 120 HPC TM 500 KIOX - Carbon MTB E-Bike - 2019 - grey/orange

Here's something a little different: a mid-travel Bosch e-bike with a focus on performance and trail-taming ability. The Stereo Hybrid 120 HPC TM re-writes the full suspension rule book by combining a longer travel fork with the proven comfort and traction advantages of the well-regarded Stereo 120. Now you've the confidence to ride that little bit faster, that little bit further and that little bit tougher but all in comfort and complete control.

The Fox 34 Float fork and Float DPS EVOL shock work together to swallow tough bits of trail and spit them out in more manageable chunks, helped by the grip and cushioning of Schwalbe's 2.6" Hans Dampf tires. There's a dropper post to accompany the longer fork's appetite for steep lines and CUBE fitted Shimano XT hydraulic disc brakes for reliable stopping. Shimano's superb 11-speed XT transmission works in complete harmony with the powerful, smooth Bosch CX drive to deliver a mountain-taming range of gears and Newmen finishing kit provides a comfortable place to park yourself. All you need now is an appetite for adventure and some trails to explore. Let's ride!

There's no doubt that designing a trail-ready carbon full suspension e-bike is a major challenge. But that's just the kind of thing that gets CUBE's engineering team out of bed in the mornings. Their starting point was the sleek down tube that fully encases the battery and the motor too. Protected from dust, water and rocks, this setup doesn't just look good, it also lowers the bike's center of gravity for greater comfort and livelier handling in all trail conditions.

Speaking of which, a higher bottom bracket increases ground clearance on tough trails, while the longer head tube creates a more comfortable ride position for long days in the saddle. Internal cable routing keeps gears shifting cleanly for longer with minimal maintenance and the Boost rear end helps improve steering precision and power transfer. As you'd expect, the Agile Trail Geometry gives the Stereo Hybrid HPC TM handling to match its looks, with precisely the right blend of agility, stability and comfort to keep you coming back for more.

Tapered Steerer - This steerer tube design is stiffer than a conventional straight steerer and yields a more secure ride feel. Minimal flex at the front of the frame means the greatest possible steering precision. With the larger steerer, the forks become more rigid. At the same time weight is saved due to the absence of bearing shells as the lower bearing is fully integrated into the head tube.

Wet Paint Surface - On polished, brushed aluminium and all HPC frames, the logos and graphics are applied in multi-layer wet paint. CUBE uses this surface treatment technology mainly to save weight.

Adaptable X12 Hanger - A optimized dropout design based on the Syntace X12 through-axle system, enlarging the area of the frame where the hanger is mounted. You can now fit longer Direct Mount hangers. Shifting precision and stiffness is therefore improved. The design makes it possible to swap the whole contact area of the axle with the hanger should the system be worn out.

Boost148 - The hub flanges moved 3mm outwards on both sides, increasing stiffness by 14-21%. The reason for this is the larger support surface of the spokes compared to the 142mm hubs used so far.

FOX Customized Setup - Sophisticated suspension kinematics are only able to work correctly if the associated shock is properly tuned. CUBE researched and found a specific shock setup in cooperation with Fox Racing Shox, using extensive testing for almost every CUBE full-suspension model.

Integrated Cable Routing - Internally routed cables offer many advantages. Cables are protected from dirt for longer life, weight is saved thanks to the absence of external housing and the bike has a clean, sleek appearance.

Agile Trail Geometry - The Agile Trail Geometry carries over the Agile Ride Geometry’s benefits but with more focus on aggressive trail use. This can be achieved through a more compact frame construction with an even lower top tube and improved standover height. The result is more freedom of movement on the bike for the rider and a lower centre of gravity which guarantees agile handling and more riding fun.

Efficient Trail Control - The Efficient Trail Control series works so that everyone can have more fun on the trail. The frames cover the widest range of riding on every terrain you can imagine. The low leverage ratio and linear rate curve makes the bike very sensitive, avoids bobbing and offers full usable travel all the time. Steep seat tube angles and slack head tube angles make these dream machines ready for action on the descent where you can use the full amount of travel to be on the safe side.

FSP4Link - The key requirement is for continuously active and fully usable travel, with the rear triangle unaffected by pedaling or especially braking forces. CUBE favours a four bar design with a chainstay pivot. The pivots is located between the dropout and the chainstay, ensuring that braking does not have a negative effect on the movement of the rear wheel. By carefully positioning the remaining pivots, CUBE obtained the finest riding qualities for their full suspension bikes both uphill and downhill.

Optimal Drive Position - The "engine" is the critical part of an E-bike because of its weight and its junction to the regular drivetrain. These factors present a real challenge for the frame design. This is why CUBE developed an innovative frame construction for a new E-bike generation. The very complex area of the bottom bracket is made of two forged halves. The groove in the front section together with the specially formed down tube is home for the power pack which in this way has a very low position in the frame triangle. The positive outcome is an extremely low center of gravity supporting an agile riding characteristic while achieving a super rigid bottom bracket area.

Advanced Twin Mold - This technique uses a complete core to provide the perfect frame form during the lay-up process. Precise inserts are used to ensure extra strength at high-stress frame points. This combination offers maximum control over fiber orientations during the lay-up and production process. The Advanced Twin Mold high-tech carbon manufacturing process translates to outstanding product safety and quality together with optimum weight and stiffness characteristics.

Stealth Ready - Dropper seat posts are getting more and more widespread, but to integrate them optimally in the frame, they have to be factory fitted. With the Stealth Ready frames, it is possible to build in a dropper seat post with internally routed cables, which besides the clean look, helps prevent any cables getting jammed.
