This Bora WTO wheelset not only adds a 45 mm profile to the family of aero carbon wheels for a wide audience, but also opens up the disc-braked road bike segment. As with the Campagnolo WTO wheels, the rim design allows maximum aerodynamic penetration and, with a certain angle, the wind even becomes a valuable ally of the athlete. Aerodynamic aluminum rims and hubs and ceramic USB cone bearing cup system in the hubs: Every design decision in these wheels serves to optimize performance.
In the version with AFS brake rotor mount, the inner rim width of 19 mm not only allows the mounting of classic road bike tires in widths from 23 to 28 mm, but also tires up to 33 mm wide. In addition, Campagnolo's 2-Way Fit (Tubeless Ready) concept offers a proven technology to enable perfect compatibility with clincher and tubeless tires. The Bora WTO 45 wheelset also impresses with graphics applied using water transfer printing and radial spoking on the front wheel and G3 spoking system on the rear wheel. External, self-locking nipples, aluminum hubs with differentiated diameters between the front and rear wheels, adjustable USB ceramic bearings and an aluminum freehub body are just some of the other top features of the Bora WTO 45.
The 45 mm high profile and a low weight of just over 1500 grams for the pair of wheels make Campagnolo's WTO 45 the ideal set for routes with slight ascents and descents, without having to sacrifice aerodynamic advantages on the straights or on the flat. The rim design allows aerodynamic penetration of the airflow, as the wind, when it hits the rim at an angle between 12° and 19°, gives the athlete momentum.
The slim design of the hub in the center section also reduces the front end of the component and the special design of the flanks favors the stall. The elliptical cross-section of the 24 front and 24 rear spokes significantly reduces rolling resistance.
The proven USB cone bearing shell system ensures that the ceramic bearings glide smoothly. The 2-way fit profile not only makes it easy to fit clincher tires, but also tubeless ready tires with low rolling resistance. The C19 class enables the mounting of 23 to 28 mm wide tires with perfect connection of the rim-tire system, but also of larger tires up to 33 mm wide. The manufacturer recommends the use of 25 mm wide tires for optimum aerodynamics.
The brake track is based on the so-called All Conditions Carbon Control (AC3) technology in order to achieve a safe and reliable braking effect in all weathers. The AC3 concept was developed not only to improve braking performance in general, but also to overcome one of the biggest disadvantages of carbon rims in competition use: braking on wet ground.
In addition to the externally visible knurling on the brake track, the Bora wheels have also been optimized internally to align the fibers to ensure maximum integrity in the face of the higher loads that can be absorbed by the brake track. For this purpose, a sophisticated resin perfected by Campagnolo engineers has been used to withstand the much higher temperatures compared to competing products and to dissipate the extreme heat generated during braking.
Campagnolo's hubs with USB ceramic bearings not only increase the smoothness of the wheels, but also reduce their weight and maintenance requirements. Absolutely smooth surfaces ensure less friction in order to reduce energy loss as much as possible. This means that all the power can be transferred to the road without any loss. Developed in the Campy Tech Lab, comparative tests show that the USB bearings are 50% smoother than standard bearings.
Full Carbon C19 rims - High comfort and top performance in terms of aerodynamics to interact with the new tire standards. Very high lateral stiffness and reactivity of the wheels.
Aluminum hubs for high lateral stiffness and low weight.
Oversize flange for high torsional stiffness and high reactivity.
Aluminum axles reduce the weight of the wheels.
Cone bearing - possibility of easy adjustment of the bearing, precise function, easy maintenance, maximum durability.
Spokes with aerodynamic profile allow optimum air penetration.
Spokes Anti-Rotation System Prevents twisting, keeps spokes in aerodynamic position.
The wheel is assembled entirely by hand by a Campagnolo specialist and 100% checked using electronic control instruments. This process guarantees the maximum performance and reliability of all Campagnolo wheels.
