Description of Garmin Edge 1000 GPS Cycling Computer - black

The Edge 1000 comes with the biggest screen of all Garmin bike computers on the market ever. An ambient light sensor ensures, thanks to intelligent backlight for excellent readability, an energy-saving standby mode for a particularly long period. New are are also the dynamic, performance-based training plans including calendar function. The absolute highlight of the Edge 1000 is the new performance function ,Segments': On self-defined sections you can compete virtually with friends or other users and become the new number 1.

Special sections - for example: sprints, climbs, descents or something like these - can be marked as ,Segments' and transferred to the Edge 1000. The best performances of friends and other users will be automatically synchronized with every connection to Garmin Connect™. Based on the existing lap times of other users, the device create virtual opponents for these sections. When you approach a segment the 1000 Edge indicate you and you can compete against virtual opponents in real time. Only those who are fit enough can break the record and become the new number 1 of a segment.

Strong performance
That you do not miss any training sessions, the Edge 1000 has an integrated calendar function. Because of the new performance features include training plans that can be adapted to the personal level of performance of the rider. Depending on the individual FTP (Functional Threshold Power), they are virtually customized to each driver. FTP is an indicator of the actual performance of a cyclist. It indicates with what wattage a cyclist can ride constantly over an hour without significant performance degradation. To determine the FTP a compatible system for power measurement is required (eg, Garmin Watt measuring pedal ,Vector').

Garmin's new GPS cycling computer is equipped from the factory with a fully routable Garmin cycling map of Europe. Depending on the activity profile (road bike, mountain bike, touring bike) routing parameters and map display willbe automatically adjusted. The new integrated function "round trip" is calculates based on the selected profile and a default route length for three different proposals for round courses. The operation of the capacitive display is easily possible even with gloves or wet. Longest possible riding fun with only one battery charge also allows the new Sleep Mode.

The inner values count
Thanks to GPS and GLONASS satellite reception remains stable even on trails in dense forests or narrow valleys - and the GPS accuracy is maintained. The barometric altimeter supplies advanced climbers with exact information about previously ridden and remaining height meters and a detailed elevation profile. The internal memory of 8 GB not only offers enough space for all tours, training and competition data, including detailed maps is plenty of memory available. With the microSD slot, the memory can be expanded or one of the many Garmin Plug&Play Maps can be used.

Everlasting connectedness
In addition to Bluetooth is the Edge 1000 is also Wi-Fi for the first time on board. Latest activities and training data are automatically transferred to the touring and training portal Garmin Connect™ without having to connect the device to the computer. The transfer of routes and trainings on the Edge 1000 runs quickly and easily. At each connection to a Wi-Fi network Garmin's new stroke of genius downloads also the latest firmware updates and the ephemeris (satellite orbits). Waiting for GPS reception is only a matter of a few moments, because the device knows in advance about where it is located. If you connect Garmin's new high-end bicycle computer with a smart phone, you can go tracking even live and get local weather information in real time.

Customer Reviews
Habe meinen Garmin seit 2,5 Jahren.
TOP!!!
