The 3T Discus 45 | 32 LTD wheelset stands for pure realism. The Discus 45 is the fastest wheel from 3T with a rim profile height of 45mm. This wheelset offers the perfect mix of stiffness, handling and comfort. This brings all the advantages of a flatter rim, such as easier handling in crosswinds but still the speed of a deeper rim.

Large inner width

Wider tires offer more comfort and roll more easily, but weigh more. The increased inner width of the Discus transforms narrow tires into wider ones without sacrificing weight. Most tires labeled "25 mm" fit the Discus 45 | 32 with a width of 28-30 mm, while "28 mm" tires offer a super comfortable ride with a width of 30-33 mm.

Hooked

Hookless designs save a few grams and are a good choice for low pressure applications. At higher pressures, however, Discus rims with hooks offer additional security. Yes, it makes manufacturing more complicated, but it's the right technical solution.

Safety First

With tubeless tires, rolling resistance is lower and punctures are very rare. However, once you have a puncture with a road tire, a safety bead holds the tire on the rim for safety reasons and to prevent damage. These are often omitted to save weight and simplify production.

Durability

People are often impressed when a new wheel spins endlessly. However, this actually means that the gaskets are not making proper contact, allowing water, mud and sand to easily penetrate the bearings. Good contact seals should feel stiff when new and need 100 to 1,000 km of running-in time to settle.

Sealant resistance

3T uses chrome-plated brass nipples with stainless steel washers and stainless steel spokes. These are much more durable in the long term than alloys. For a longer service life, it is recommended to avoid alkaline sealants with ammonia or sodium hydroxide.
