Discover RockShox Recon suspension forks at BIKE24

Built for everything from XC hardtails to trail e-MTBs, the RockShox Recon fork combines 100 to 130 mm of travel with 32 mm stanchions and a lockout for efficient climbing. Since its launch in 2006, this affordable suspension fork series has become a versatile choice for moderate singletrack, where the lockout helps reduce unwanted movement on long climbs before opening up the travel for roots, small drops and rougher sections. Within the RockShox range, the Recon brings a 32 mm chassis and more advanced damping technology to an accessible price point.

Choose from models for 27.5 and 29-inch wheels, with either quick-release or Boost dropouts for increased stiffness. Two versions are available at BIKE24: Silver RL with Solo Air and Gold RL with DebonAir.

Why choose the RockShox Recon

  • Lockout at your fingertips: Motion Control from open to locked
  • 100 to 130 mm of travel: for XC setups and trail hardtails
  • E-MTB compatible: 15 x 110 mm Boost models for pedelecs

RockShox Recon forks at a glance

Choose the Recon based on travel, wheel size, axle standard and lockout setup. The Recon Silver RL is the more affordable option, while the Recon Gold RL steps up the specification. The range covers everything from hardtails to trail bikes. For quick lockout changes while riding, choose the remote version.

RockShox Recon Silver RL Solo Air – the versatile starting point

The Recon Silver RL pairs a Solo Air spring with 32 mm steel stanchions in a Fast Black finish. At BIKE24, it is available with 100 to 130 mm of travel for 27.5 and 29-inch wheels. Choose between a tapered steerer or a straight 1 1/8-inch steerer. The lockout is located on the crown.

  • Steel stanchions keep trail-ready performance affordable
  • Tapered or straight 1 1/8-inch steerer options for compatibility with different frames

RockShox Recon Silver RL Remote – handlebar lockout

The Remote shares the Silver RL’s core setup but moves lockout control to a handlebar-mounted lever. Switch modes without taking your hands off the grips – useful when climbs and descents come in quick succession. At BIKE24, it is available with 100 mm of travel for 27.5 and 29-inch wheels.

  • Switch modes without taking your hands off the grips
  • Quick lockout changes when climbs and descents alternate frequently

RockShox Recon Gold RL – DebonAir and aluminum stanchions

The Gold RL steps up to a DebonAir air spring for sensitive response over small bumps and a consistent feel throughout the travel. Its 32 mm stanchions are aluminum, while the crown is forged and hollow. At BIKE24, it is available for 29-inch wheels with 100 mm of travel.

  • DebonAir air spring for more sensitive response
  • Bottomless Tokens increase air-spring progression
  • Aluminum stanchions and a hollow crown save weight compared with the Silver RL

RockShox Recon fork technologies

The Recon keeps things simple with proven, reliable tech. A lockout damper handles control, while an air spring keeps the fork responsive. Add a stiff, Boost-ready chassis, and you have a setup where every part works together.

Motion Control damping

Motion Control is the Recon’s damping system and features across the range from Silver RL to Gold RL. It controls low-speed compression – slower suspension movements caused by weight shifts, cornering or braking. In the open position, the fork remains responsive; closing the compression damping takes it through to lockout. A blow-off valve still allows the fork to move under hard impacts, helping the front wheel stay on line. Lock it out for more efficient climbing and open it up for control on descents.

Solo Air and DebonAir air springs

Both systems use air rather than a coil spring. With Solo Air on the Silver RL, a single valve fills the positive chamber, while the negative chamber equalizes automatically as the fork compresses. This makes it quick to set sag for your weight. DebonAir on the Gold RL is designed for sensitive initial response and a consistent feel throughout the travel. Bottomless Tokens adjust the air-spring curve for greater progression toward the end of the travel.

Boost spacing and Torque Caps

Boost uses a 110 mm front hub spacing instead of 100 mm, creating a wider spoke bracing angle for greater lateral wheel stiffness and more direct steering. Boost models also accept Torque Caps. These larger end caps increase the contact area between the hub and fork dropouts. For bikes with conventional hubs, choose the version for 9 mm quick-release axles.

Frequently asked questions about buying a RockShox Recon

What RockShox Recon travel options are available at BIKE24?

At BIKE24, the Recon Silver RL is available for 27.5 and 29-inch wheels with 100, 120 and 130 mm of travel. The Recon Gold RL is available for 29-inch wheels with 100 mm of travel. Check your frame manufacturer’s specifications before increasing travel. Exceeding the approved range changes the head angle and can make the bike steer more slowly. Use our filters to narrow down the options by travel and wheel size.

Which steerer and axle standard do I need for the Recon?

Check your head tube and hub first. The Silver RL is available with either a tapered 1 1/8 to 1 1/2-inch steerer or a straight 1 1/8-inch steerer. For the axle, choose between 9 mm quick release and 15 x 110 mm Boost. The fork uses a Post Mount brake interface. If you’re unsure which combination fits your frame, our team can help you check compatibility before you buy.

Which service kits and spare parts fit the RockShox Recon?

At BIKE24, you’ll find Basic and Full Service Kits for the Recon Silver RL and Recon Gold RL, plus dust seals and decal kits. Check the model year and generation, as service kits differ between series. Dedicated kits are available for the 200-hour service interval. Use the serial number on the fork crown or search with RockShox Trailhead to find the correct service kit.
