Description of Schwalbe Marathon Winter Touring Performance Wired Tire - 28 inch - 2018 - Black-Reflex

For a safer journey. You have full control on icy roads with the Marathon Winter. Even in tight bends and under violent braking everything remains under control. The spikes work best on ice when running at minimum pressure, while at maximum pressure the tires can be ridden on ice-free roads with minimal road noise. With a carcass of 67 threads per inch, it is the ideal winter tire. All Schwalbe spikes have a core of extremely durable tungsten carbide. The base body is made of galvanized steel. With RaceGuard puncture protection and Black-Reflex stripes for best visibility.

Race Guard (Schwalbe Puncture Protection Level 4):
This belt was developed especially for racing. A synthesis of special rubber and several layers of nylon fabric offers very effective protection. Weight and rolling resistance of the tire is minimal increased.

Good

Good tires. It's a pretty good roll, keeping the bike on the road well. Rides easier than the Nokian W240, there were no punctures. The volume per month was about 1000 kilometers
After two seasons of driving through the winter streets of the city at a pressure of 4 bar, a few spikes broke through the tire carcass with its base and damaged the tube.

I ordered a couple more tires. And now I'm waiting for their delivery

Die Bewertung gilt für das Modell von 2011 35-622 - ca 5000 km gefahren

Fahreigenschaften auf Eis: sehr gut bei allen Luftdrücken

Nach einigen tausend km auf Asphalt verlieren die Spikes aber an Effektivität, sind dann aber trotzdem noch besser als ein Reifen ohne Spikes.

Die meisten Spikes gingen nicht während der Fahrt, sondern beim Anecken des Reifens an Gegenstände, verloren. Das Ersetzen der Spikes funktioniert einfach, wenn der Reifen auf den maximal zulässigen Druck aufgepumpt wird und das Spike-Loch im Reifen mit Wasser befüllt wird.

Fahreigenschaften auf Schnee mit Spurrillen, sind leider erst bei einem Luftdruck von ca. 1 bar befriedigend.

Seit der Verwendung des Winterreifens gab es bei mir keine glättebedingten Stürze mehr.

Schlecht

Jetzt etwa 1100 km gefahren 70%Straße 30% Waldweg. Die Spikes arbeiten sich nach innen durch und verursachen Platten.
Die Leistung auf glatten Untergründen ist super aber das sollte doch einen ganzen Winter durchhalten. So ist der Reifen nicht zu gebrauchen.

Nachtrag zur letzten bewertung
Jetzt etwa 700km fahrleistung und ein Spike ist verloren , einige habe ich wieder ordentlich ins loch drücken können. Das schräge auffahren von der Seitenbankette auf die erhöhte Fahrbahn mag der Reifen nicht . Dabei gehen leicht die Spikes raus.

Hervorragend

Über 500km Fahrleistung 50% Asphalt 50% wald und feldwege. Sehr gute Haftung auch auf Asphalt, alle Spikes sind drinne und ohne Abnutzung. Auf eisglatter Straße super sicher, auch auf festgefahrenem und vereistem Schnee mit Querrillen ein sicheres fahren möglich. Auf jeden fall mache ich die in jedem Winter drauf.
