Stages Powermeters are the perfect upgrade when it comes to significantly improving performance on the bike. The high-resolution Gen 3 Powermeter technology benefits from more than a decade of continuous product innovation.
In the Power LR model, the pre-mounted sensors on the drive side and on the left crank arm measure the cyclist's wattage values with maximum accuracy and independently of each other. Data transmission is seamless via Bluetooth and ANT+. The powermeter sensors themselves integrate seamlessly into the design of the Shimano Ultegra FC-R8100 crankset and only add 35 grams to the weight.
As the central element of the 12-speed drivetrain of the Ultegra R8100 series, the FC-R8100 crankset is characterised by the shifting quality and transmission efficiency typical of Shimano. Not only the chainrings which feature a Hollowglide construction, but also the lightweight crank arms which are manufactured using Hollowtech II technology, contribute to optimised power transmission as well as faster and more precise shifting operations.
All this adds up to a perfect balance between stiffness, stability, light weight and rotational efficiency. Numerous crank arm lengths and chainrings with 50-34 or 52-36 teeth also offer variability and an optimal gear ratio for almost every riding situation.
The guiding principle of Shimano's Hollowtech II technology is the perfect balance between stiffness, stability, weight and rotational efficiency. The goal was to produce a crank that minimizes the effort required for the drive and enables more efficient power transmission.
An exclusive forging process allows the production of extremely light crank arms that nevertheless guarantee maximum stiffness. The fixed connection of the right arm to the axle of the bottom bracket and its external bearing also serve an optimum relationship between stiffness and low weight.
