Choose your Granit based on three things: the theft risk where you park, the value of your bike, and how portable you need your lock to be. For valuable city bikes, go for a D-lock with a high ABUS security level. Choose a chain lock for more flexibility or a frame lock for quick, convenient security.
ABUS Granit D-locks – compact and strong
The D-lock is the Granit classic – solid, with no moving parts to create additional weak points. The Granit 460 has ABUS security level 9, the Granit Plus 470 and 640 each reach level 12, and the Granit XPlus 540 reaches level 15. At the top of the range, the Granit Super Extreme 2500 is designed for high-value bikes.
ABUS Granit CityChain – flexible chain locks
Need more flexibility when securing your bike to a lamppost, fence, or post? The Granit CityChain XPlus 1060 combines an XPlus cylinder with a hardened chain and comes in four lengths from 85 to 170 cm. It’s ideal for regular parking spots at home or in the yard.
ABUS Granit XPlus 6950M – the frame lock
A frame lock mounts permanently to the rear of your bike and blocks the wheel in one quick move. The Granit XPlus 6950M uses an XPlus cylinder and is ideal for quick stops at the bakery or convenience store. Add an optional plug-in chain to secure your bike to a fixed object for additional protection.
Technologies behind the ABUS Granit series
Several technologies work together to give Granit locks their high level of security. The XPlus cylinder helps resist manipulation, while Power Cell technology protects against impact and leverage attacks. Specially hardened steel increases resistance to force, while the Granit Super Extreme 2500 adds tungsten carbide for greater protection against cordless angle grinders.
XPlus cylinder
The XPlus cylinder helps protect the strongest Granit models against manipulation. Instead of simple rows of pins, it uses a complex disc mechanism that makes the lock difficult to pick with precision tools. On models such as the Granit XPlus 540, an automatic cover also protects the keyhole from dirt and corrosion.
Power Cell technology
Power Cell technology protects top Granit models against two common brute-force methods: impact and pulling. A thief may try to force the shackle or chain out of the lock body with a hammer or lever. Power Cell absorbs and redirects these forces to help keep the lock closed, buying valuable time that can make a thief give up in busy locations.
Specially hardened steel
The shackle is a prime target for bolt cutters and cutting discs. That’s why ABUS uses specially hardened steel for the shackle, lock body, and load-bearing locking components. Flagship models also feature a square-profile parabolic shackle that locks into the body at both ends. On the Granit XPlus 540, it’s 13 mm thick.

Do ABUS Granit locks come with a mount?
It depends on the model. Many come with a compatible mount, such as the USH or EaZy-KF mount for attaching the lock to your frame. Other models are intentionally sold without a mount if you prefer to carry your lock in a backpack. Check the product description to see whether a mount is included.
Can I use one key for multiple ABUS Granit locks?
