Friedrich Wilhelm Klever founded the Chemische Fabrik F.W. Klever in Cologne as early as 1874. He began to produce oils and fats based on coal. The breakthrough came in 1904 with BALLISTOL, when the imperial army needed an all-round oil: a universal oil that was suitable for all weapon materials and was also intended to serve the soldiers as wound oil. Today BALLISTOL distributes well over 80 articles.
