The different rim profiles offer different balances of weight, handling and aerodynamics. As rim depth increases, reducing aerodynamic drag at high speeds becomes a greater priority. Rear wheels are available with Shimano Road or SRAM XDR freehubs.

AERO+ concept on the DT Swiss ARC 1400
With the AERO+ concept, DT Swiss considers steering moment and rolling resistance alongside aerodynamic drag. Rim profiles are developed using CFD simulations and wind tunnel testing to combine high aerodynamic efficiency with predictable handling in crosswinds. The latest V-shaped rim also allows for a wider internal width to accommodate wider road tires.
Wheel Tire System on the DT Swiss ARC 1400
With WTS, the rim and tire are aerodynamically matched as a system. For the 55 and 65 mm wheels, DT Swiss uses a 29 mm Continental AERO 111 at the front and a 30 mm GP 5000 S TR at the rear. The 38 and 85 mm wheels use 26 mm front and 28 mm rear tires. This makes tire choice part of the wheel’s aerodynamic development.
240 DICUT hub with Ratchet EXP
The 240 DICUT hub is standard across the current ARC 1400 range. The rear hub uses Ratchet EXP with 36 teeth. One ratchet and the threaded ring are combined into a single component, reducing the number of components in the freehub system. DT Swiss also uses aero comp II spokes on the 1400 to help keep aerodynamic drag from the rotating components low.
