The Origins of Pit Viper Sunglasses
The Pit Viper story began in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. Founder Chuck Mumford was looking for the perfect sunglasses for his adventures. As a ski instructor, he knew exactly what he needed: a pair of glasses that fit his lifestyle. From rapid descents, athletic challenges, fun on the mountain, to the next party, the glasses had to know no bounds. They had to be able to withstand it all, even when they ended up in his pocket. Mumford couldn't find what he was looking for and decided to take matters into his own hands. The first Pit Viper sunglasses were made from a broken pair of ski goggles and some duct tape.
Chuck Mumford found a partner in Chris Garcin, with whom he turned the idea into Pit Viper. Since then, the brand has become synonymous with tough, functional and eye-catching eyewear that is as indestructible as the people who wear it. A true statement made in the USA with no half measures.
