GORE Wear – From our Lab to your lab

With the introduction of the GORE-TEX® SHAKEDRY TM product technology GORE® wear set a new benchmark in protective cycling and running gear around the globe. This revolutionary development eliminated the face fabric from the membrane construction of the jacket. In use the jacket sheds water continuously, so that moisture doesn’t quickly build up on the surface. In addition to the previously known models in black, GORE® wear has now succeeded in developing different color combinations for more visibility during sports.

When launching this revolutionary new two-layer fabric, technical limitations of the so called film-out laminate only allowed GORE Wear to manufacture one color: Black. Two years and endless testing and research by the fabric engineers later, they are able to elevate our most innovative product yet by adding colors to the line: Pacific Blue, Lava Grey and Storm Blue. The base colors will be augmented with highlighted details to create a modern and sleek appearance. Lava grey will be paired with the newly developed reflective ion coral color, a fresh but not overdone contrast color that enables day and nighttime visibility for riders and runners. The ion coral color has history with the brand, going way back to the roots of GORE® wear: the very first GORE-TEX® cycling jacket, named the Giro, launched in 1985 used a color GORE Wear named ‘orange.com’. Tweaking this color gave them the new ion coral, resulting in a fresh, recognizable and functional appearance. This jacket is designed for the demanding athlete: it will ensure the highest performance can be sustained, even when the weather is less than ideal. For serious athletes, training does not wait for the conditions to change.

GORE-TEX® SHAKEDRY™ Viz jackets combine the revolutionary protection of the new GORE-TEX® SHAKEDRY™ product technology with the safety benefits of high visibility fabric.

GORE® wear constantly strives to evolve its clothing options, from both an engineering and safety point of view. Coming quickly on the heels of the launch of the GORE-TEX® SHAKEDRY™ jacket, GORE® wear is now the first company to introduce colored versions of the lightweight and highly breathable garments. The Viz jackets combine the lauded GORE-TEX® SHAKEDRY™ material with high visibility GORE-TEX® Active panels that are placed across the jacket to reflect light from cars and other traffic.

Engineering a jacket that combines two highly functional GORE-TEX® materials was the obvious choice in creating these jackets. The GORE-TEX® Active material is already extremely lightweight and breathable, and can now be produced in a variety of high visibility colorways. The resulting jacket maintains the benefits of the GORE-TEX® SHAKEDRY™ material: it is a very lightweight and packable product that can be easily stowed away, and called upon when the conditions demand: technical innovation is only useful if the resulting product is comfortable and form-fitting. That’s the case here, with a great next to skin feel that will sit well over a regular summer jersey or a thicker winter-weight top layer.

The new GORE-TEX® SHAKEDRY™ Viz jackets are the ultimate intersection of material science and athlete-first design. The combination of two high performance materials creates a jacket that does not compromise performance or visibility, giving the enthusiast cyclist the ultimate jacket for training in fading light and deteriorating weather.
