SRAM Eagle Tech – Innovation in Detail

Eagle brings together cutting-edge tech that makes trail riding simpler, more efficient, and more reliable. From precise chain management to wireless AXS shifting, Eagle keeps advancing the way you ride.

X-Dome Cassettes

X-Dome design gives you a wider gear range. The 10-tooth smallest cog delivers maximum speed, while the smooth progression up to the 52-tooth sprocket ensures precise shifting and perfect gearing on steep terrain – whether you’re sprinting or climbing.

X-SYNC 2 Chainrings

Thanks to the Narrow-Wide profile, X-SYNC 2 chainrings keep the SRAM Eagle chain securely in place. The design reduces friction, wear, and noise – ideal for dusty or muddy trails.

Type-3 Roller Bearing Clutch & Cage Lock

The Eagle derailleur’s Type-3 Clutch keeps the chain under constant tension, reducing chain slap. Cage Lock makes wheel removal or chain service quick and easy.

AXS Wireless

With AXS, you shift wirelessly, instantly, and even under load. The companion app lets you customize your setup and monitor battery status at any time.

FAQ – Important Questions About SRAM Eagle

1. Does SRAM Eagle fit my mountain bike?

The key factors are your freehub body and axle width. X-Dome cassettes (XX1 to GX) require an XD freehub. PG cassettes (NX and SX) fit HG-compatible freehubs. Axle width determines which SRAM DUB crankset and chainline you need – common standards are 12x142 mm and 12x148 mm Boost.

2. What are the differences between Eagle groupsets?

Materials, weight, durability, and gear range vary. XX1 and X01, aimed at XC and enduro racing, use extensive CNC-machined aluminum and steel with tight tolerances. NX and SX Eagle, with an 11-tooth smallest cog and slightly less range, are designed more for entry-level riders. But all deliver the same high-level shifting performance.

3. Is SRAM Eagle available for gravel bikes and e-MTBs?

Yes. SRAM Eagle is e-MTB-ready and, in the AXS version, compatible with gravel bikes. On e-MTBs, mechanical Eagle drivetrains can be paired with Single-Click shifters. Integrated with SRAM Powertrain, Eagle AXS provides smart shift support. And you can even pair Eagle AXS with XPLR shifters to take advantage of the wide range on your gravel bike.
